What is a shitbox?

The definition of a shitbox can be interpreted by everyone in a different manner, to help you choose the perfect shitbox for your needs here are the key elements of a shitbox:

A shitbox isn't necessarily cheap but most shitboxes bought for a few hundred Euros are shitboxes because of the following reasons:

  • Shitboxes are old, neglected or unfashionable. Something most people wouldn't want driving or being seen in them.

  • Shitboxes are mechanically questionable. Either unreliable by nature or worn or held together by hope.

  • Shitboxes could be cosmetically rough with dents, faded paint or broken interiors.

  • Shitboxes aren't made for driving gravel, steep roads or off-road. In general 4x4's could mean they are not shitboxes unless they are really crap under these road conditions.

If it would be a challenge for this car to get to the start of our events and almost a miracle completing it definitly defines as a shitbox.

An expensive shitbox is by these definitions indeed possible but you probably won't dare driving it on some of our roadtrips.

What about motorcycles?

Although driving long distances on a motorcycle is challenging, some of them are more comfortable and have more capabilities than 2 shitboxes combinded.

So if you want to join a Shitbox Adventure, any motorcycle with 500cc or less and any motorcycle before 1996 which fit the above criteria can obviously join.

Here is a video which stars a bunch of shitboxes who already joined our adventures:

What if i still bring a non shitbox vehicle?

If one or more non shitbox cars would participate we have a system in place to define the non shitbox of the event.

All participants will receive "princess mobile" stickers which they can use to assign their choice of non shitbox car of the event. The vehicle with the most of those stickers will receive a very inconvenient item to make their car a real shitbox like everyone else. This item will need to come along the whole event and needs to be cherished like a relic.
